Review: Avon Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner with Black Sesame and Bhringraj

Here's a review of another Avon Naturals product that I got to try for a whole month. I'll admit, I ordered this one on a whim, together with another product, the Avon Naturals Purifying Cleanser with Tea Tree Oil and Green Tea. I reviewed that one on my earlier blog post and here is the link. Meanwhile, for this product, read my verdict after the jump!

Product Claims
Formulated with black Sesame & Bhringraj extracts, this 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner effectively cleanses and maintains hair’s moisture balance. Helps nourish, detangle and condition hair from root to tip as it removes everyday build-up and styling residue. Specially formulated for black hair. Leaves hair feeling silky soft and looking healthy from the first wash.

Impressions
It comes in a huge plastic bottle which truly looks durable and closes up well . Kudos to Avon actually because I think their products are always well packaged. Right off the lid, I took of a whiff of the scent (as I always do) and it smells of something mild yet unfamiliar so I think it is supposedto mimic the scent of black sesame and bhrinraj. I didn't expect it to be black despite having black sesame as one of its main ingredients but when I saw the color, I wasn't iffy about it.

Verdict
I think that if you purchase something with your own cheese you would really hope for the best about the product and hope that it would work. Unfortunately for this one, I don't think it was able to fulfill any of its product claims. Yes, it could be doing its job of cleaning my hair of daily buildups and styling residue but my hair certainly didn't feel moisturized at all. My hair just felt dry and dead. My scalp became very itchy and I developed dandruff after 3 weeks or so of using it and that's when I decided to stop. Not cool.

Rating
2 out of 5
My hair isn't the loveliest in the world but the last thing I needed was a bout with dandruff. 'Nuff said.

Repurchase or Not?
No. There are many varieties (or flavors?) of this shampoo and conditioner combo and I am tempted to order another but I remembered that this isn't the variety that I ordered afterall. This was merely a replacement because they ran out of the honey-coconut ( not sure if it's correct but I'm pretty sure I ordered something more delectable than black sesame and bhringraj) combo. I mean no because I might get another bad replacement! :)
