Thank Goodness! It's Human Nature!
I made it a point at the start of
the year that the year 2015 would be a year of change. I wanted to be more
socially and environmentally responsible. Even in just my little ways I wanted
to make a difference. Bit by bit I tried to transform my lifestyle because I
know that in order to effect change around me I needed to start with myself.
Check out the products of this noble proudly Filipino company that has served as my constant companion in fulfilling my personal advocacy.
It is no secret though
that I am similar with most women in my ‘slight’ addiction with using cosmetics
and personal care products. Lately, I have become ingredient-conscious and I’ve
been loitering in grocery aisles reading the micro prints at the back of
different products hoping to find ones that don’t contain too much chemical
based components.
I have become familiar with different ingredients that are considered harmful such as:
mineral oil, petroleum, petrolatum, SLS/SLES, CDEA/CMEA, disodium EDTA,
benzophenone/oxybenzone, hydroquinone, CDEA/CMEA, triclosan, DEET, parabens, phenoxyethanol
I would get disappointed each time because so many products in the
market contain one, several or all of those ingredients. I knew that there were
natural or organic products out there but I’ve always associated them with
being expensive or difficult to procure because usually they had to be sourced
offshore.
On a different day I did a bit of a research about Filipino-made products as part of my other advocacy which is to support local ones. I found some brands, both familiar and not. HUMAN NATURE literally caught my eye. With one look I kind of got the entire idea about what they were selling but I had to click the link to fully understand. And boy I was amazed! Where have you been all my la aah aaah ife. Or which rock have I been living under for such a long time because it seems that HHN has been in existence of at least five years. Above all, it’s philosophy of being Pro-Philippines, Pro-Poor and Pro-Environment has got me hitting three birds with one stone!
When my first orders from HHN arrived I was uber excited to try them
all and after weeks of testing them I promised to repurchase as long as the
products are available in the market.
Here’s a rundown of HHN
products that are now staples in my daily personal care.
“Did you know that Human Nature’s mineral makeup line is 100% natural?
That’s right, gorgeous! So say bye-bye to parabens, synthetic dyes, talc and
other toxic chemicals, and say hello to only pure fab goodness everyday!”
I am happy that I finally found a pressed powder that doesn’t have an
overwhelming scent. It’s also very light on the face and I don’t know if it’s
just me but I feel like it has a cooling effect on my face. Just a minor hitch
on my part though because I had a tough time picking the right shade and there
were three of them available: Orient Pearl (light, yellow undertone), Island
Shell (fair, pink undertone), and Sand Dollar (medium, yellow undertone). I
picked Island Shell because I figured it would fit me but I noticed that on the
later part of the day it tends to get darker on my skin and well, I feel that I
should still check out if how the other shades would be like for me. I have no
regrets getting this though because I’ll just use it for it to contour my face.
And I understand that getting the right shade of pressed powders is always hit
and miss. (^_^)
“Start your hair rescue with our Natural Moisturizing Shampoo! It’s the only one with breakthrough CREAMFoam® technology, which acts like a lotion to soften and nourish your hair. Plus, it’s got Philippine coco nectar, bursting with amino acids, vitamins and minerals!”
I super love the scent of this one! Lathering this one my hair doesn’t
make me guilty because I know that it is filled with natural goodness. I’ve
always wanted to use Coconut stuff on my hair but I know that it’s impossible
to do it on a daily basis. HHN solved my woes.
Human Nature Moisturizing Conditioner in Mandarin Fresh
“For truly beautiful hair that's touchably soft and healthy,
sometimes shampoo just isn't enough. We’re here to help you get soft,
smooth, sleek hair with our Natural Moisturizing Conditioner. It's made with some of nature’s most intense moisturizers, avocado, sunflower and soybean oil, that condition and nourishes the hair. A final touch of virgin coconut oil gives your hair a healthy shine, without the chemicals.”
This is the perfect combo for my oily face. After a month of using
them, I can say that it’s even better than the Pond’s or St. Ives that I have
been using before. I’m used to having breakouts whenever I get my menstrual
period but when I started using this HHN Balancing Facial Wash and Toner Duo, I
have never gotten any zits on my face, big or small.
Aside from being head-over-heels with the scents of these moisturizers, I love how light they feel on the skin. They are easily absorbed by my skin and with the loads of anti-oxidants and vitamins they contain I am sure that my skin finally gets the nourishment that it deserves. These are now my must-haves and I have been using them everyday ever since I got them.
The day moisturizer serves as my pre-makeup prep but it doesn’t
contain any SPF so it has to be partnered with HHN’s Safe Protect Sunblock.
The night moisturizer on the other hand just gives me a beautiful
morning glow.
More reasons to love HHN:
- HHN partners with Gawad Kalinga Villages and local farmers and suppliers and thus supports so many Filipino’s lives and dreams throughout the archipelago.
- Great Packaging. Really, you wouldn’t expect much from a local brand which sells its products at relatively low prices. And that’s where you’re wrong.
- Everything smells good. Try them to find out.
- Cruelty Free and PETA-Certified.
- Expiration dates are well indicated. Month, Day and Year.
- Natural and Environment friendly. Rejoice Mother Earth!
- Free returns.
- Membership, Dealership and Discounts.

PS. I am not affiliated with Human Nature and the stuff that I wrote here about their products are just based on my opinion.
Here's a little something from my Instagram Account.
