Review: Avon Naturals Purifying Cleanser with TeaTree Oil and Green Tea

I got to try Avon Naturals' Purifying Cleanser with Tea Tree Oil and Green Tea and here's my take about it based on my own experience. I used it for a whole month and well, for starters, I'd just say that it didn't turn out how I'd expected it to be. Yay or nay? Read my verdict after the jump!

The Verdict..
My recent introduction to HumanNature products has made me even more curious to try out other products that say that they are 'natural'. So when I chanced upon an Avon brochure I ordered this together with another Avon Naturals product; the Shampoo and Conditioner with Black Sesame which I will also be blogging about in my future post. Meantime, for the topic at hand here's my take.

The product comes in a tube which means that you can easily squeeze out all of it if you hate wastage. The smell isn't overwhelming and reminds me of leaves and just seems very natural. It's in gel form so it's good for people like me who have oily skin as it can be easily washed off and won't clog the pores. It also has these blue flecks and rough texture ( I hope its visible on the photo below) which means it can slough off dead skin cells and double as a facial scrub. With all the pros you'd think I went head-over-heels for the product. Sadly, no. :(

This is actually one of those products that I hoped would work for me. Yes, it did slough off my dead skin well and my face felt smooth and clean after each use and it didn't give me any breakouts. But for some reason, as the dead skin came off, my blackheads became prevalent. It would have been great if the blackheads came off whenever I washed but they were just there, waiting for bacteria and dust and then the pimples started to happen. So I could say that the product was not the one causing the pimples but since it exposed all of my little b-heads in the forehead, I got more prone to infection as I would rub them. :( Sad, I know.

To Cap Things...
I'm giving it a 2.5 out of 5 rating. Blackheads are real deal-breakers.
I'm sorry it didn't work for me and I don't think I will be repurchasing it. However, since we all have very different body chemistries, I don't know how it would affect other people's skins. To those who are ingredient conscious, you can always check out the list that I included in the earlier part of this post. Those who are familiar with other natural products may say that this isn't so natural as it contains chemical-based ingredients. Oh well!

Watch out for my review of Avon Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner with Black Sesame.

XO,

Cassie, the little guinea pig :)
