Short answer: NO. 😁
At least that's what I learned from using the CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch during a bad breakout. Cystic pimples are the worst of their kind. They are excessively painful, they are too obvious, too red and they take forever to heal. And don't forget about the pus! Ugh!
So if you think that a pimple patch is something you put on top of your zit to make it magically vanish the next day, you are wrong. But using it does have some benefits so it's not a bad idea to keep some at bay.

CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch
How much: Php 150.00
Where to buy: Sophia and Kalel
CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch ingredients and other details
CosRx pimple patches are comfortable to wear. They are not too thick nor too hard and they adhere well to the skin. I've worn them overnight and they really stay on the same spot where you apply them.
I always tell myself to quit touching my face especially if I have a budding zit but really, sometimes I just can't help it. So when I have this patch on, I have a physical reminder to keep my hands off. And if I do end up accidentally touching my zit, I still have this as a protective barrier.
It was a very satisfying experience to look at the patch once I have removed it in the morning. I can see the oil and impurities that have been absorbed.
A single pad of the CosRx Pimple Master Patch contains 24 patches in different sizes (10 pcs of 7mm, 5 pcs of 10mm and 9 pcs of 12 mm).
A hydrocolloid patch absorbs oil and extracts impurities while creating a barrier that protects against outside irritants.
Here are photos that I took for three consecutive mornings to observe the daily progress of using the CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch.
In the photo above you can see how very red and angry my pimple is. Day after day it has calmed down and it has flattened. Your pimple won't go away overnight but it will heal better and you won't be left with a bad scar to deal with in the aftermath.
Will I buy it again? Definitely. It's very affordable. It's not something I can't live without but I also love having it around just in case.
Will I recommend it? For spot treatments and those once in a bluemoon zits, yes.

Ps. This whole situation happened last April. My skin's been doing well lately. 😉
Here's a long overdue review of the Pyunkang Yul Low pH Pore Deep Cleansing Foam.
Pyunkang yul low ph deep cleanaing foam
What is it?
A cleansing foam that cleanses deeply yet gently to remove impurities, dirt and makeup. It mimics the skin's own pH level so it doesn't disturb the acid mantle.

Packaging/Ingredients
I have the travel sized squeeze tube here so it only contains 40 mL of product. As you can see the packaging is simple, no eye-catching illustrations whatsoever. That's the way I like it though because I love the clean minimalist look and I always associate it to being straight forward and no nonsense.

Ingredients and other details
Here's a photo of the back label. Of course I cannot read Korean but luckily I was able to find the details on www.ohlolly.com and here's the ingredients list:

Water, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Glycerin, Coconut Acid, Polyquaternium-67, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Isethionate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Acetate, Butylene Glycol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Phaseolus Angularis Seed Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Diatomaceous Earth, Isopropyl Alcohol, Citric Acid

My Take
Years and years of being a Project Vanity reader has instilled in me the importance of using a pH balanced facial wash. I look back on all those times that I've had a crazy breakout and I wish I could undo all the skincare mistakes of the past. *cringe* That is why I am always on a hunt for a facial wash that will not mess up with my skin barrier. A future tip too for my own daughter when the time comes.

Last April, while I was in the middle of a huge breakout on my right temple I went browsing at the Shopee Page of Sophia and Kalel, I chanced upon this facial wash from Pyunkang Yul. I'll admit that the "low pH" tag caught my eye but I was not familiar with the brand so I decided to Google it. Let's just say that I liked what I saw, enough to make me order two tubes at once, along with other skin care stuff which I featured in my previous haul.

I've been using this facial wash ever since and as I write this blog, I've emptied one tube, I'm currently on one, and I have two more on the way. Wait, let me correct that statement; somewhere in between I tried to dabble with another facial wash for a few days which turned out to be a bad decision so I went back to Pyunkang Yul. If that doesn't speak volumes about how much I love this product then I don't know what does.
A dollop of Pyunkang Yul Low pH Deep Cleansing Foam mixed with water. Notice the sparkly stuff embedded in it.
Lemme break it down for you. It smells fresh, akin to lemon-ginger according to my nose but I've read that it smells like bergamot and I have no idea if how that smells like so I'll just stick with my own interpretation of the scent.  It gives a satisfying foamy lather and it feels so gentle, no stingy or harsh feeling at all. I love using lukewarm water to wash it off and my skin feels clean, soft, and smooth. No tight, dry or stripped feeling. Above all, I have really experienced changes in my skin's texture and I seldomly get stubborn breakouts now. If I do, my skin recovers quickly. I'd like to think I've found a holy grail facial wash, something I wouldn't hesitate to repurchase in the future.

My current skin care products. Plus sleep, drinking water and consistency in following the routine.
I did mention in my title that I would also be featuring some of the skin care products that I am currently using. I've kept my routine simple with just a few products because I'm scared chicken that I will have another breakout if I overwhelm myself.  Click on the links to read reviews about the products.
  • Nivea MicellAIR Acne Clear Micellar Water 0% Alcohol (Php 99.00, Mercury Drug) - no surprise here, I already talked about how much I love this one
  • Human Heart Nature Balancing Facial Toner (Php 99.00, www.humanheartnature.com) - new packaging, same love
  • Klorane Eye Makeup Remover - just trying to use it up coz sayang, and I could do with just the Nivea MicellAIR tbh 😉
  • Maxi Peel Sun Protection Cream SPF 20 (Php 45.00, Mercury Drug)  - I know I could still do better with the amount of SPF here. I've seen this product at the local drugstore but I have always walked past it. Then I read a review on PV that said that it is worth a try despite the lower SPF content and I was pleasantly surprised by it. It doesn't smell, it doesn't break me out, it is light enough to be worn underneath makeup and my skin's doing great at the moment. I will consume the mini tub before I try a different sunscreen but I will still buy it as a backup. Oh, it's Php 45.00. Ang saya!
  • Sooper Beaute Baby Skin Serum (Php 199.00, www.beautymnl.com) -  This serum smells like my favorite fruit: the pomelo, so I feel perky when I get a whiff of it especially in the morning. It contains Vitamin E, Snail Secretion, Lactic Acid and a cocktail of extracts (chamomile, witch hazel and tomato). The label says that it is an "elixir to younger, poreless and glowing skin". That's a lot of promise and I know it would take more than a serum to have a baby skin so I didn't really bank on that. But this serum deserves some love. I love the consistency, it's not too thick nor runny so it does fine underneath my makeup. It spreads easily and is absorbed quickly by the skin.  It does minimize the appearance of my pores. Not quite baby skin yet, but the texture of my skin improved, it's currently plumper or bouncier, less pimple prone and the pimple marks are fading. This small bottle is almost done but I won't be repurchasing at the moment as I have another bottle of serum to consume, also from the same brand. I say I enjoyed using Super Beaute so I also won't hesitate to purchase from them in the future.

Xo,
caRissa
I was able to get this set from a favorite Instagram seller at a very affordable rate and I knew how lucky I was considering that the individual prices of the full-sized ones are quiet pricey.
This is a perfect opportunity to try out if which ones in Etude House's wide array of moisturizers and creams would be compatible with me and mine.
For reference, I have an oily, pimple prone skin with big pores.
I have here four varieties, in sample/travel sized packaging. If anything they all look adorable, don't they?
I tested them out and you can find out at the end if which one of these four did I like.

My Take
Like I mentioned at the start of this blog post, I have an oily skin with the occasional hormonal pimples on my chin during that time of the month. So, as much as possible, I want my face cream to be on the lighter side. Both of the Etude House Pink Vital Water Cream and the Etude House Moistfull Cream have the same bouncy texture and I loved how light they felt on my skin. They both smell nice and I love how my skin felt soft after using them daily. I also didn't get breakouts while using them.

However, I have reservations about products that contain collagen because there are so many articles on on line that say that collagen cannot be absorbed when applied topically because the collagen molecule is too large. Some say that it can be absorbed when it is hydrolyzed or broken down into smaller molecules. And even when it is hydrolyzed there are still so any questions surrounding it. So I decided that the best way to get collagen is by eating protein-rich food and taking Vitamin C so that your body would produce it naturally. Anyway. That's one extra paragraph for collagen talk.

The Etude House Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream and the Etude House True Relief Moist Cream in my opinion would be well appreciated by those with dry skin types because they have rich  and creamy texture and would be great for keeping the skin moisturized. They didn't have any bad reaction on my skin naman, didn't cause any breakouts however, they just felt heavy on my skin type.

So there, based on my skin type and my preference, the Etude House Pink Vital Water Cream is my pick in this bunch.

Here are a few knickknacks that I picked up at the local Mercury Drug.
What do I say? Sachets are a perfect way to get familiar with a product without having to shelve out a big amount of money.
These iWhite Korea products caught my eye because of their cute and attractive packaging. Despite coming in sachets the manufacturers still poured in some good amount of creativity. They are made in Korea and I don't know about you but whenever I chance upon any K Beauty product, it's enough to spark my curiosity.
I actually forgot if how much each of them cost but I paid a total amount of about Php 60.00 so I wager they're about Php 20.00 each.
Having sample products in sachets isn't enough to make a full review so I'm just giving my first impressions about these products.
Padayon!

The iWhite Whitening Vita Aqua Moisturizer: What is it and what does it do? Check the label hun.
In Action & My Take

A picture can paint a thousand words and I know that the effect of applying this Aqua Moisturizer Whitening Vita is very VERY VERY visible in these photos. The second photo has not been edited; I swear. My dark circles are very much in place in the second photo but everything else has smoothed like some sort of miracle just happened. Hello pores, where you at? Even the scarring has been minimized. This blue-tinged moisturizer is also very lightweight on the skin and it just melts upon contact. It's perfect for oily skinned gals like me. It's ideal for those "polbo and cheektint" days when you just want minimal stuff on your face. If there's a teensy bit of complaint that I have about this product, it would be the lack of Sun Protecting Factor (SPF).

iWhite Korea The Original Nose Pack
Price:
iWhite Nose Pack: What is it? What does it do?
In Action & My Take
One a scale of one to 10, how excited are you to see if how many blackheads or whiteheads can a nose pack pull out from you nose? With bated breath I waited for 15 minutes just like the what the direction says. And voila! It was able to remove a few blackheads and whiteheads naman but not a monumental amount.

iWhite Korea Vitamin Sleeping Gel Mask
Price:
iWhite Korea Vitamin Sleeping Gel Mask list of ingredients and other details.
My Take
This gel mask is packed with so many beneficial ingredients. I would love to be able to use it for a longer time to see the full results but as of now, even when I just used it once, I literally woke up with baby soft and smooth skin, and not the greasy type.

To Cap Things
After using these three, I think I would be able to say that yet again I found some golden products in the drugstore aisle. Of the three though, I would most likely want to purchase the iWhite Aqua Moisturizer Whitening Vita and the iWhite Korea Vitamin Sleeping Gel Mask based on my experience. I'm also glad to say that none of these products broke me out. I checked Google and I saw that the full-sized version of the Aqua Moisturizer is less than Php 200.00 which is definitely a steal.  Two thumbs up! I hope to try other iWhite Korea products and I will definitely blog about it too.

Here's a review of It's Skin Power 10 Formula Q10 Effector.
It's Skin Power 10 Formula Q10 Effector
Price: Php 390.00, dicounted from Php 720.00
Where to Buy:  ph.althea.kr

What Is It?
It is a lightweight, quick absorbing essence. This Q10 Effector is enriched with Coenzyme-Q10 that's found naturally in the skin to restore vitality and resilience to the skin. This lightweight, fast-absorbing concentrate applies on without leaving behind any sticky residue while instantly hydrating the skin. With anti-aging properties, this product promotes regeneration of skin cells so that you have a supple, radiant complexion.

Ingredients
According to the page at Althea, the following are the active ingredients of this product together with their functions.
Ceramide - Strengthens the skin's barrier and keeps it protected
Cellulose - Has strong humectant properties that improves the skin's moisture content
Pseudoalteromonas ferment extract - Anti-aging agent that increases collagen and elastin production

Packaging, Details and Other Labels
It comes in a glass bottle with a dropper to dispense the product. I like the packaging actually, it doesn't look or feel cheap, even if the product comes at a really affordable price.

In Action
The watery gel formula is easily absorbed by the skin and doesn't leave behind a sticky feeling.

My Take
The manufacturer of this product It's Skin is touted as "a Korean skincare brand that provides clinical-grade solutions for common everyday skin problems". If you visit the It's Skin page at Althea, you will see that there are about a dozen different serums and essences, they're known as the Power 10 line, and they really target different skin concerns. So there's one for whitening, for anti aging and so on. That being said, now that I am reviewing this product, I am really wondering why I picked up the Q10 Effector one, since I am alien to the concept of this Q10. 😊 I could have went for the pore minimizing one. I bought this last year so my memory is already kind of hazy. But here we are. I Googled the benefits of incorporating Coenzyme Q10 into my skincare routine and into my life so I realized I may have made a good decision after all.

The funny thing is, I didn't immediately fall head over heels about this product. Sure I loved how the lightweight, fast-absorbing concentrate applies on without leaving behind any sticky residue but at first I didn't notice any significant difference on my skin. It took me about consuming half the contents of the bottle before feeling and seeing the effects. You know how it feels, when you wake up in the morning and you love what you're seeing - a glowing, radiant complexion which feels soft and supple to touch. Can't keep my hands off my face. I also noticed that my skin is less prone to pimples. I would love to try the other variants in the Power 10 line but this one is something that I won't hesitate to buy again in the future.

I also observed that in order to maximize the effects of this product you have to be vigilant about other skincare steps such as cleansing and exfoliating to promote better absorption. I exfoliate about 2 to 3 times a week and together with this essence, my skin feels baby soft.

I got this facial foam from Althea during my latest haul. Imma give you the deets and review about this product after the jump!

The Face Shop Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam
Variety: Lemon
Price: Php 150.00, discounted from Php 300.00
Size: 170 ml
Where I Got It: ph.althea.kr

"Formulated with lemon extract, this mild cleansing foam helps remove dead skin cells and leaves skin fresh."

I can never keep up with the 10 Step Korean Skin Care. Who has the time? However, I've taken a leaf out of their book and really focused on something that I can manage. I used to be just the cleanse-tone-moisturize type of girl but now I have realized the importance of pre-cleansing. I wear makeup almost every working day and I am horrified about all the times in the past that I didn't pre-cleanse. Well, I am a convert now and my current go-to cleansing oil is the Human Nature Gentle Cleansing Oil which I have previously reviewed.

Now, on to the product at hand. The Face Shop Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam is my current go-to cleansing foam which I use after the pre-cleansing process. It will be, for such a long time because this cleansing foam is huge: comes in 170 ml . For the price of Php 150.00, I really got the good end of the deal.

Labels and Packaging

Good luck with the hangul. But I think it's been translated at the bottom part. The expiry date is also indicated at the edge of the tube.

Ingredients
Aside from lemon extracts, it also contains extracts from other plants like horse chestnut bark, saponaria oficinalis (soap wort), alchemilla vulgaris (lady's mantle), and sage herb. I Googled the benefits of using these plant extracts. Of course , lemon has brightening effects. For the others, read benefits of using horse chestnut here, saponaria oficinalis here, alchemilla vulgaris here, and sage herb here.
My Take
I use a pea-sized amount which is enough to clean the entire face so it's pretty economical. In this photo it doesn't look like it's all foamed up because I only put a small amount of water. LOL. But with enough water, it will lather up and become foamy.
It has a tangy smell, reminiscent of a Mountain Dew soft drink. I was worried that since lemon is lemon, it might be harsh or that it would sting a bit. Thankfully, it is indeed mild. Some facial foams would be too mild that you won't feel that it's helping in the cleansing department. This one doesn't sting but skin feels clean, fresh, soft and well-scrubbed after using it.
It works well with my current choice of cleansing oil because it can wash off the greasy feeling. I use lukewarm water to wash if off.

Overall, I think I made a good choice in buying this stuff from Althea, both for the price and the good performance.

XO,
Carissa

Edit: Nov 13, 2017
After using it for a month, I noticed some small pimples popping on my forehead. I stopped using this for a while and the pimple disappeared. I guess this facial wash is not for me after all. :(
I could almost hear my mother's voice saying: "What on earth are hand creams for? Do you really need one?" :)
I won't say it's a necessity; I could do without one.
But...I saw this hand cream on Althea and it came with an affordable price tag so I thought that I could treat my hands with some luxury without having to spend a million bucks.
Come take a look.

What Is It?
The BoomdeAhDah Water Drop Hand Cream promises to moisturize and keep the hands refreshed with a light finish. It is enriched with Gardenia Extracts to add vitality to the skin. It also comes with a pleasant floral scent.

Ingredients

Errrm...

In Action
The consistency of this hand cream is unlike any hand cream that I have tried before and it is certainly not what I have expected. I expected it to be creamy like a lotion but it turned out to be somewhat like a primer in texture. However, a few seconds after application, almost immediately after contact with a warm hand, it just melts and turns into water drops. The watery drops feel like sweat or tears, but not in an icky way. It is easily absorbed by the skin and doesn't leave a greasy feel. My hands certainly feel soft and moisturized. It smells really good too. It has a floral scent and I wish I would be able to find a perfume that smells as good as this.

If there's any downside to this product, it would be that I have to keep on reapplying because the scent doesn't last long.

Hi! This hefty box arrived in the mail the other day and I was so excited to open it. It's from Althea, my favorite shop for K-Beauty products. I love checking out their site, even if I have no plans to purchase. I've only shopped twice and I have blogged about my previous shopping experience with them and you can read it here

I've been on a makeup buying ban since March because I want to consume all the current makeup products in my stash. I decided to focus on skin care products instead and Althea is really a haven for such. The last time I shopped with Althea, the products didn't come in a box. This time though, it's boxed and it feels extra special. Like getting a gift, LOL. Without further ado, here are the contents of my Althea box.

These are the contents of the box and I will be going through each of them one by one.

It's Skin Power 10 Formula Q10 Effector
"Just like drops for your eyes, It's Skin's Power 10 Formulas are little drops that improve and target problems according to your skin's needs. This Q10 Effector is enriched with Coenzyme-Q10 that's found naturally in the skin to restore vitality and resilience to the skin. This lightweight, fast-absorbing concentrate applies on without leaving behind any sticky residue while instantly hydrating the skin. With anti-aging properties, this product promotes regeneration of skin cells so that you have a supple, radiant complexion."
This is a serum, I think. I have zero experience when it comes to serums and I will certainly make a separate post about this in the future.

ONSAEMEEIN Perfect Moisture Cream
Another one or improving the condition of my skin. Will it give me the kutis Koreana that everyone dreams of? Honestly, I'm not aiming for that. I just want to improve the moisture level of my skin so I hope this product helps.

BoomDeahdah Water Drop Hand Cream in Gardenia
Because my hands need some TLC too. Ayt? And might I add: it smells really good. I hope I can find a perfume that smells exactly like this.

The FaceShop Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam in Lemon
What a huge one this is. It's gonna take some time before I empty it out.

Boomdeahdah Mask Sheets in Pomegranate, Honey and Rice
Mask sheets. For all the times that I'm not too lazy to put one on. LOL. I wish I were more religious about putting on a mask every Saturday. Here they are: one for Firming, one for Nourishing and one for Brightening.

***
And that's it, guys! Not a lot, right? Anyway, I ordered it on September 20th, and it arrived October 4th. Fresh from Korea, yes. I will be pampering myself with these products over the weekend.
And hopefully I will be able to post some reviews about them.
See you around!
