Travels: Cagayan De Oro, Iligan and Bukidnon 2007 (Throwback Post)

I'm officially reminiscing about a past adventure. :)

Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Bukidnon
I've always known it as a very peaceful and beautiful city. That is why it came as shock when I heard  the news that the Limketkai Mall was bombed this past weekend. I was there on an educational tour six years ago, together with my Management class in UP. It would be one of the most memorable trips I would ever take. Sixteen hours no less to get there by land. Crazy!

Herewith are my most treasured photos from the 'City of Golden Friendship" as well as some taken in Bukidnon and Iligan. Aside from CDO, we were also able to visit Iligan City and Bukidnon where the photo of that pineapple was taken. That waterfall on the backdrop is of the famous Maria Cristina falls in Iligan but I'm not sure if this was the Maria or the Cristina waterfall since there are two of them . *trivia* :)

Also in Bukidnon, we were able to visit the pineapple plantation of Del Monte! Yes, the brand we love. I was in awe of that plantation. The pineapples planted on the hills go as far as your eyes could see! The land was brown and yellowish in color and it was sooo dusty.

Aside from visiting the Maria Cristina Falls in Iligan, we were also able to visit the ancestral home of then President of the Republic, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. If I remember correctly, the place was called Macaraeg-Macapagal Ancestral Home.

The Macahambus Adventure Park was the place where I had my first zipline ever. My acrophobe self was saying 'Hail Mary's' while walking up the very high trail. And when I finally ziplined, I was screaming my lungs out like "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Haha. Indigenous people at the Malasag Gardens danced for us. And, apart from missing all of my best friends who were with me in these photos, I really would love to go back to those places.

I pray that the people of CDO and those who lost their loved ones would be able to rise above this tragedy. And justice be served to the victims. Amen.

XO,

Carisssa
